Makora is a remote rural community at the border of Mutoko and Inyanga districts. It is a climate vulnerable area charecterised by recurrent droughts caused by dry spells, poor soils and high intensity environmental degradation. As a community that depends on rain-fed farming for livelihoods, these climate calamities significantly threaten food and nutritious security, livelihoods, including planetary health. Vulnerable people include women, children, youth, elderly and people with disabilities. On the other hand, very limited access and availability to climate/ecological education opportunities and platforms limits communities' abilities to co-create adaptation solutions.
Advancing CDA4RePro Future aims to build and strengthen community resilience to climate shocks through a meaningful, inclusive and participatory model that integrates awareness, formation, training, multilateral collaboration and information sharing. This will build an informed, engaged and active community for climate action.
