The project, 'Promoting Ecological Conversion and Action for Greener Communities' will be implemented in Mutoko District, where young people in remote rural communities have very limited opportunities to learn about climate change, land care and biodiversity. This knowledge gap hinders the development of sustainable solutions against the planetary crisis. Without action, this also threaten community livelihoods and the ecological balance.
The project seeks to uplift young people to lead the change, by equipping them with knowledge, practical skills and tools to promote conservation and climate action. An Eco-formation program will target 60 young people aged 18-35 years old, exploring topics on climate change, biodiversity and practical restoration methods. It is our belief that education and awareness can turn knowledge into ecological conversion, innovation and action.
3 nurseries, each with 1000+ native and fruit trees will be established. These nurseries will contribute to land restoration, biodiversity, food security and in the long run income generation. They will also serve as eco-hubs where young people can access continuous mentorship in conservation practices, leadership and advocacy.
By promoting low-cost, community-centered and youth-driven action, the project will address climate change, biodiversity loss and land degradation; enhancing and strengthening rural ecosystem services. More importantly, a new generation of eco-conscious young leaders will be equipped to champion long-term sustainability. With their knowledge, skills, and commitment, these eco-leaders will inspire and mobilise wider community action, creating a ripple effect towards greener, healthier, and more resilient rural communities in Mutoko and beyond.
